Teaching Tolerance Magazine has a link on their website with teaching materials for Pres. Obama's speech on race, delivered last March. When you get to the website, scroll down the contents until you get to "Our Challenges as a People."
To add materials, click on your name and then " ----'s page." You will get a blank page that you can copy and paste materials into. Don't forget to click "SAVE."
Maggie's page contains text and film for a Webquest. Her unit was driven by the essential question, "What qualities make a hero? Materrials and resources focused on the Little Rock Nine and include the book Warriors Don't Cry, as well as video and technological resources.

The Dust Bowl: An integrated Social Studies and Language Arts Unit
Focus: Writing Historical Fiction
This is an 8th grade unit that we team taught (social studies and LA). Students learn about the Dust Bowl using a variety of resources including oral history, historical fiction, photographs, informational text newspaper articles, specific sites on the internet, and music.
